Abstract

This study aims to investigate causal relationships of the adaptation by Thai undergraduate students in disruptive times. The participants were 321 undergraduates from both government and private universities selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire with reliability coefficients ranging from .77 to .89, and they were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling.

The results revealed that the causal relationship model was consistent with the empirical data; chi-square statistic equation = 144.78, df = 71, p-value = 0.00, RMSEA = 0.057, SRMR = 0.046, GFI = 0.95, AGFI = 0.9, CFI = 0.98, and CN = 228.54. From the results, it is clear that adaptation during disruptive times had the most effect on interpersonal relationships (path coefficient = .48), followed by self-acceptance (path coefficient = .26). Moreover, resilience and social support had the most effect on self-acceptance (path coefficient = .61 and .26, respectively). Findings suggest that educational institutions could provide psychological counseling services, either for individuals or groups, to promote resilience among Thai undergraduate students. This could help them maintain their existing social support, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance self-acceptance, which in turn will lead to better adaptability.
