AI Policy

Policy and Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Manuscript Preparation

Governance Journal, Kalasin University recognizes the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool to support research. To ensure that the use of AI complies with publication ethics regarding academic responsibility, data accuracy, transparency, respect for intellectual property, and confidentiality, the Editorial Board establishes the following policy and guidelines for all parties concerned:

1. Authors

1.1 Originality The ideas and proposals presented in the manuscript must originate from the authors, with AI serving solely as a tool.
1.2 Responsibility Authors must personally verify all information obtained from AI and assume responsibility for any inaccuracies, data distortions, intellectual property infringements, or violations of publication ethics arising from its use.
1.3 Authorship AI or its developers must not be listed as authors, as AI cannot provide consent or assume responsibility for the content of the manuscript.
1.4 Disclosure Authors must disclose their use of AI at the end of the article, before the reference list, under the heading “Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing”, specifying (1) the name and version of the AI tool used and (2) the sections of the manuscript in which AI assistance was employed. Disclosure is not required if AI is used solely to edit the language of a manuscript written by the authors themselves.
1.5 Permitted Uses These include language editing (including English abstracts of Thai-language manuscripts), reference formatting, coding assistance, statistical data analysis, and model development. Such uses must not conflict with any other provisions of this policy.
1.6 Prohibited Uses These include (1) using AI to generate content or write the manuscript. All content and wording must be written by the authors to prevent academic plagiarism; and (2) using AI to fabricate, alter, or distort data, images, or references, which is strictly prohibited.
1.7 Acceptance of the Policy Authors must review this policy before submitting their manuscripts. Confirmation of manuscript submission constitutes acceptance of this policy, and violations may result in rejection or retraction of the article.

2. Reviewers

2.1 Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts themselves and should not use AI to assist in the review process.
2.2 Reviewers should not upload manuscripts, in whole or in part, or their review reports to AI systems, to prevent intellectual property infringements and breaches of confidentiality.
2.3 If reviewers suspect that a manuscript assigned to them involves the use of AI in violation of this policy, they must notify the editor immediately.

3. Editors

3.1 Editors must conduct the initial assessment of manuscripts themselves and should not use AI to assist in this assessment.
3.2 Editors should not upload manuscripts, in whole or in part, to AI systems for the same reasons stated in Section 2.2.
3.3 The editor’s decision in cases involving suspected violations of this policy shall be final.

4. Actions by the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board reserves the right to select and use AI detection tools. Inappropriate use of AI or use that violates this policy constitutes a breach of publication ethics, and the Editorial Board has the right to reject or retract the article.

5. Effective Date

This policy applies to manuscripts submitted for publication consideration on or after January 1, 2027.
