Abstract
This research aimed to study students’ opinion towards the Japanese Society and Culture course as part of the Japanese program, Department of Oriental Languages, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. The population in this study consisted of 66 students who enrolled in the Japanese Society and Culture course in the first semester of 2019 academic year. In the process, data analysis was employed, and mean, percentages, and standard deviation were then calculated. Research findings revealed that overall students’ opinions were generally at high levels in all aspects relating to this course. The evaluation indicated an overall mean of ‘x̄= 4.70’, followed by the personality of the lecturer at ‘x̄ = 4.61’. Moreover, teaching and teaching techniques scored at ‘x̄ = 4.62’, and teaching materials showed a mean of ‘x̄= 4.57’, respectively. The score of the teaching materials was the lowest, which is an indication that there is a need for further development of such materials in order to stimulate and attract students’ interest. This can be further achieved by designing and developing multimedia instructions with relevant applications to make the lessons more interesting and to encourage self-study.
