Approaches for the Efficient Management on Transporting Goods by Trucks

Abstract

        The objectives of this research were to study 1) the level of transport government policy, transport organization management, transport technology, goods transport management, and efficiency of goods transport management 2) the influence of transport government policy, transport organization management, transport technology, goods transport management and efficiency of goods transport management and 3) approaches for the efficient management on transporting goods by trucks. This research employed a mixed research methodology. For the quantitative research part, the sample consisted of transport operators of Bangkok a total of 300 individuals. They were selected by proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected via the use of a questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive analysis and a structural equation model. As for the qualitative research component, in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 executives of related government departments and private agencies.

        The research findings showed that: 1) transport government policy was rated at a high level, transport organization management, transport technology, goods transport management, and efficiency of goods transport management were rated at the highest level 2) Transport government policy affected transport organization management. Transport organization management affects transport technology, goods transport management and efficiency of goods transport management. Transport technology affected goods transport management and the efficiency of goods transport management. Goods transport management affects the efficiency of goods transport management. 3) approaches for the efficient management of transporting goods by trucks found that Transport operators must manage the organization to keep up with the government policies on the transportation of goods, especially the changes of regulations, have sufficient working capital, use information technology systems to manage corporate data and manage cargo transport operations with logistics technology to increase logistics efficiency and be competitive.
