Roles and Interaction between Elites and Rabbles among the social change in Siam during the reign of King Mongkut to the modem Siam state

Abstract

ในรัชสมัยของสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเป็นยุคแห่งการสร้างประวัติศาสตร์ชาติไทยขึ้นมาใหม่โดยอาศัยการครอบงำการรับรู้ในแง่ของศาสนากฎหมายและวรรณกรรม โดยกษัตริย์คือผู้กำหนดความเป็นไปในราชอาณาจักรและทรงเป็น “หัวใจของแผ่นดิน”ในยุคนี้สยามต้องเผชิญกับการเข้ามาของชาวต่างชาติจึงทำให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงการรับรู้และได้มีการรับเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่มาจากตะวันตก จึงได้ก่อให้เกิดการท้าทายโลกทัศน์เดิมของสังคมไทยอย่างรุนแรงในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 4 คือช่วงสมัยที่รากฐานแห่งภูมิปัญญาได้เกิดความคิดเรื่องความก้าวหน้าขึ้นมาในสังคม ซึ่งล้วนบ่งบอกถึงความคิดทางเวลาแบบใหม่ของมนุษย์ที่แปรเปลี่ยนไปเนื่องจากอิทธิพลของชาติตะวันตกอันเป็นแรงผลักดันสำคัญ และการเปลี่ยนแปลงภายในสังคมสยามที่เริ่มให้ความสำคัญกับประสบการณ์และสภาพเศรษฐกิจที่มีเงินตราเป็นตัวชี้วัดบทบาทในสังคม การประสานและการสอดรับระหว่างปัจจัยภายนอกและปัจจัยภายในที่ดำเนินไปภายใต้ความคิดทางเวลาแบบก้าวหน้าเช่นนี้จะเกิดขึ้นไม่ได้หากปราศจากพลังอำนาจของสำนึกทางเวลาที่เป็นตัวกำกับพฤติกรรมของมนุษย์ในสังคมอันนำไปสู่การช่วงชิงการให้คำนิยามกับสิ่งต่างๆ การมีพื้นที่ในสังคมท่ามกลางปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชนชั้นผู้นำและสามัญชนIn the reign of King Mongkut, Siam was in the era of the history through the overwhelming perception in terms of Religion, Law and Literature. The King was determined to be “Heart of the Land” in the Kingdom, while the Siam was faced with arrival of foreigners, thus resulting in a change of people’s perception from modem technology of the West that were indicative for human thought due the influence of the West as a major driving force. In addition, Siam started focusing on business and the economy with money were the measure of its role in society. However, synchronization and linkage between the external and internal factors that operated under the concept of time advance could not happen without the realization of the time which control human’s behavior in society. This led to the definition of the various areas of society at well as the interaction between elite and rabbles.
