The Value Appearing in Contemporary Thai Songs

Abstract

This research article aims to study the social value of contemporary Thai songs during the year 2015 - 2020, a total of 35 songs. It was found that there are 5 aspects of value, which are 1) Value of love, divided into 2 topics: Expression of love and Suffering caused by love. 2) Value of belief, divided into 5 topics: Belief about destiny, Belief about the other and next world, Belief about the holy thing, Belief about karma, and Belief about the soulmate. 3) Value of living, divided into 2 topics: Obstacle and Inspiration creation. 4) Value of way of life, culture, and tradition and 5) Value of teaching. The results of the study reflected that contemporary Thai songs have values by blending different cultures both old and new, in order to adapt to the context of modern society. It can be considered as a cultural innovation that shows the diversity of cultures.
