Communication Guidelines for the Issue of Verbal Sexual Harassment Against Lgbtq+ Community

Abstract

The research aimed 1) to study the issue of verbal sexual harassment against a group of LGBTQ+ and 2) to propose the guidelines for communication on the issue of sexual harassment towards LGBTQ+ people The research used the qualitative research via in-depth interviews with the sample group as follows: 1) six Human Rights and Gender Equality-related operators, and Communication experts; 2) 25 LGBTQ+ persons. The tools of data collection were Semi-structured Interview by Descriptive analysis. The result of the research shows that 1) Nowaday, LGBTQ+ people are increasingly accepted in Thai society but vebal sexual harassment is still a problem that has not been resolved completely. Since the effects of a problem cannot be clearly seen in concrete. Therefore, causing the society to not aware of the importance of the problem which can divide the factors that cause verbal sexual harassment to the group of LGBTQ+ with individual factor Which can be caused by the offender's side and the victim. 2) Based on the qualitative data analysis from in-depth interviews, the communication approach in 6 areas as follows: 2.1) Presenting the rights to respect each other's body, 2.2) Presenting the gender diversity issues that people generally misunderstand, 2.3) Presenting human rights laws that protect the current LGBTQ+ community so that everyone will be aware of equality, 2.4) Presenting some behaviors that should not be done to others, 2.5) Presenting equality of human rights and regardless of genders, and 2.6) Presenting current stories of groups of gender-diverse people who have opportunities and abilities that are comparable to others in society.
