Khlong U-Phai Phak: A Study of the Meanings of the Words /nai/ and /nɔ̂ɔk/ from a Cognitive Semantics Perspective

Abstract
The Khlong U-Phai Phak is a khlong that explains the meanings of pairs of antonyms. The explanation of these antonyms in the khlong reflects the poet’s conceptualization of language. This research article aims to analyze the meanings of the words /nai/ and /nɔ̂ɔk/ as presented in the Khlong Sap nai nɔ̂ɔk, which is a part of the collection of Khlong U-Phai Phak according to the Cognitive Semantics approach. The findings reveal that the words /nai/ and /nɔ̂ɔk/ have two meanings: 1) the meaning of spatial relations that have a concrete boundary, and 2) the meaning of spatial relations that have an abstract boundary.
