The role of the Democrat Party to promote political participation of female politicians in Parliament

Abstract

            This research aimed 1) to study the role of the Democrat Party in promoting political participation of women politicians in the parliament 2) to study the problems and obstacles of the Democrat Party in supporting women's participation in parliament. In this study, the researcher conducted qualitative research. By collecting document, information and in-depth interviews including observations from important contributors could be divided the group of important information providers into 2 groups as follows (1) Democrat Party Management Group and (2) Women's Democratic House of Representatives.

            The results of the research were found that 1) The role of the Democrat Party in promoting political participation of women politicians in the parliament has three steps, namely. (1) Selection of women to become representatives in the election of members of the Democrat Party. (2) Supporting the election of the House of Representatives of the Democrat Party. 2) The problems and obstacles of the Democrat Party in supporting the participation of women in the parliament, there were 5 main problems, as follows (1) Democrat culture of the Democrat Party (2) Rules of the Democrat Party to support women's participation in parliament Of the Democrat Party's women's group in political activities. (3) The problem of women’s group of the Democrat Party to do political activities. (4) The policies of the Democrat Party support official participation when (5) Problems of the Democrat Party's views on the limitations of women, concluding that the problems and obstacles of the Democratic Party in supporting women's participation in parliament Starting from the political culture within the party, there was a patronage system that has occurred and existed for a long time until absorbed into the political culture of the Democrat Party, as for the problems in the operation of the Democrat Party women group, there was a lack of continuity. The lack of capital factors and times have participated in political activities of women politicians.
