Abstract

          This research aimed to study: 1) development of Muay Thai gambling in Thai society from past to
present and future trends. 2) forms and methods of conducting Muay Thai gambling business in Thai society and 3) government policy on management of Muay Thai sports betting from Past to present. Use the qualitative research model, from research papers and in-depth interviews. Key informants are the
government sector 3 persons and persons or agencies involved in the government policy for managing Muay Thai gambling, consists of (1) the head of boxing camp. (2) the boxing tournament organizer. (promoter). (3) the boxing stadium commissioner (4) the referee (5) the boxer trainer (6) the boxer (7) the boxing expert and (8) the Mass media for Muay Thai sport, 11 persons.
          The research found that: 1) boxing gambling is also the nourishment for the Muay Thai business.
Since the majority of viewers are going to gamble in boxing rather than going to watch Thai boxing art.
Gambling therefore determines the behavior of the boxing stadium, boxing tournament organizer, head of boxing camp and boxer, especially the boxing tournament organizer will have to match boxing to be
satisfied with the boxing expert. Because boxing fights close to each other, Besides being fun, it will make a lot of gambling. Due to the odds that are close to that the boxing field also needs the boxing
tournament organizer that matches the boxing match. Since most of the revenue comes from the
audience that comes to gamble on boxing. 2) the government plays a role only in issuing a boxing gambling license to the boxing stadium, have the Boxing Sport Act 1999 which is a clearly controlled law. The first boxing betting was to be played in the boxing stadium only Next, betting on boxing boxes and there are odds on boxing that the dealer accepts by phone. Currently, there is still online gambling. 3) the Gambling Act B.E. 2478, have been in force for a long time more than 80 years. The provisions and the penalty rate are inconsistent with the current circumstances. Because gambling has developed a more complex playing method. And the introduction of modern technology to support gambling. Therefore, the government sector should update
the provisions of the gambling law to be in line with the current situation.
