The Analytical Study of Tai Lue Proverbs in Socio-cultural Tradition in Sipsong Panna

Abstract

The Thai Lue proverb was social and cultural heritage. It should be imparted to the younger generation so that this local wisdom and identity would be preserved. The main objective of this paper was to analyze Thai Lue’s way of life as well as language use as reflected in their proverbs in Sipsong Panna. The information was presented descriptively. The findings revealed that the Thai Lue’s way of life was a simple one based on natural resources and Buddhist teaching.  In all aspects of life, Thai Lue people in Sipsong Panna were taught to be good and to avoid activities that may bring in chaos so that the community would enjoy its peace and prosperity.
