Abstract

This paper aimed to mention about the Korean though of number 3 of Korean people. The data of this study collected from ‘The Concept of Symbol of Korean’ of Yang Miseon (1992). From this study we knew that; 1) Korean people believe that number 3 is auspicious number which comes from the heaven by the god. This thought was influenced from ‘Tankun tale’ 2) Some of Korean people believe that this number was influenced by Buddhism, and 3) Korean people believe that the number 3 is a perfect number, the symbol of the son.   From Korean though which appeared on number 3 also demonstrates on the Korean culture such as the funeral and commemorative rites for ancestors.
