The Role of Government in Preventing and Suppressing Human Trafficking Research in Myanmar Fishery Workers in Samut Sakhon Province

Abstract

          The research have had objectives to study the role of the government in implementing the policy to prevent and suppress human trafficking in Burmese fishing workers in Samut Sakhon Province. This research was the qualitative research by using documentary, in-depth interview from key informant who were the important person to give information such as main agencies and co-ordination agencies. By the main unit which is the central government agency, i.e. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Ministry of Labor, related agencies have both roles as legal roles. Role under leadership and roles based on changing circumstances as well as the 30 representatives of Burmese. Analyze and evaluate od data by co-operation with analyzing of type and interpreting.

             The results of research were found that 1) The Government agencies that have had a role in implementing the policy to prevent and suppress human trafficking in Burmese fisheries workers in Samut Sakhon Province have both main agencies and co-ordination agencies who were the central government agency to prevent and suppress human trafficking in Burmese fisheries workers were an operation that requires an overview 2.) the problem of the strategic plan and integration in accordance with the policy Law enforcement, measures and policy compliance with the issue of human trafficking in order to be a fishery worker in Samut Sakhon Province. 3) From the overall effectiveness of the prevention and suppression of human trafficking in Burmese fishing workers in Samut Sakhon Province, namely, planning and targeting in accordance with the policy Integration of legal cooperation in labor control Improve OSS registration system in order to be an incentive for Thai workers Communication of public relations for entrepreneurs and workers in order to understand the benefits of registration in accordance with the laws of foreign workers (protection and welfare), involvement of civil society continuously.
