The Characteristics of Heroism in the Biography of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort.

Abstract
This qualitative research endeavors to analyze the heroic attributes depicted in the life story of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. It employs Joseph Campbell's framework of the hero's journey as the principal theoretical lens. Biographical data were amassed from "Grignion de Montfort: The Gospel Pilgrim," a publication by the Saint Gabriel’s Foundation of Thailand recognized as the most exhaustive edition utilized as the primary data source. The analysis reveals that the life trajectory of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort closely mirrors the three foundational stages of a hero's journey: departure, initiation, and return. Upon meticulous scrutiny of the sub-stages, it is apparent that 12 out of the 17 sub-stages are identifiable in Montfort's biography, with three stages recurring throughout the primary phases. Additionally, the study underscores three notable aspects of Montfort's extraordinary life: his unwavering faith, compassionate actions, and resolute proclamation of his beliefs. Furthermore, it accentuates his profound love for humanity and his devout commitment to God, depicting him as a model figure for Christian adherents.
