The Role of the State in the Development of Thai Economic Cooperation with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LAO PDR)

Abstract

          In this research, the researcher has objective to study: 1) Economic Cooperation model and Economic Policy of the Thai Government and Lao People's Democratic Republic 2) Problems and obstacles in the Development of Economic Cooperation in Thailand and Lao People's Democratic Republic and 3) to propose development approaches Relationship and Cooperation for Thai Economic Development with Lao People's Democratic Republic Using qualitative research methods, collecting data from research papers. And in-depth interviews from key informants: agencies involved in the government's role in developing economic cooperation with neighboring countries the private sector and academic research scholars by adopting theories on international cooperation and the concept of law and state policy towards economic cooperation as a framework for research.

            The findings revealed that 1) the study of economic cooperation models and economic policies of the Thai government and The Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has been a consequence of the past and has been relevant to the present. In particular, the Thai royal family plays a very important role in enhancing the intimacy among Thai-Lao people. The government sector uses mechanisms of cooperation established in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. Pushing for continuous progress in cooperation and have cooperation in all areas as neighbors that trust each other on the basis of mutual benefits. As well as improving and developing road infrastructure in routes that connect with important border checkpoints between Thailand, Vietnam and Southern China, which is an important way to promote the development of trade facilitation in the Lao PDR. As a result, Thai entrepreneurs and investors have invested in businesses in the Lao PDR. To take advantage of the ever-increasing commercial and investment opportunities.
