Factors Affecting on Improving Quality of Life of the Elderly in Bangkok Area to Respond National Strategy

The aims of this research was to study the level of factors affecting on improving quality of life of the elderly in Bangkok area to respond National Strategy. Mixed methods research was conducted by data collecting of focus group study and indepth interview with the specialists, such as social worker academic under sanitary, Bangkok. The findings found that improving quality of life of the elderly in Bangkok area were composed of living conditions of the elderly, physical condition awareness of the elderly affecting daily life, psychological condition awareness, interpersonal awareness and environment awareness of the elderly affecting lifestyle of the elderly. The aims of quantitative research was to look for the factors affecting to improve quality of life of the elderly in Bangkok area. The samples were 400 people in Bangkok, aged 60 years old and up. The instrument was gauge questionnaires which was created from qualitative research results, analysis of covariance and multiple variance analysis – the reliability of variable was from 0.219 to 0.867 and linear structural equation model data analysis. The results revealed that the relationship structure model of causal factors affecting to improve quality of life of the elderly in Bangkok area was harmonious with the empirical data. The overall of harmonious model, proportion of chi-square statistics/class of freedom was at 2.47 that was in the specified criteria less than 3. Group index was defined more than or equal to 0.90 found that every index – GFI=.948, CFI=1.25, NFI=.996 and AGFI=1.24 passed the specified criteria. The index was identified less than 0.08 revealed that index RMR=.007. Basic factors of family and environment were affected directly in positive to improve quality of life of the elderly in Bangkok area be in line with the set up research hypothesis.
