The Development of English Reading Comprehension Achievement using the QAR Strategy for The Sixth-Grade Students

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to 1) compare English reading comprehension achievement of the sixth-grade students before and after being taught by using QAR strategy and 2) study the students’ opinions towards QAR strategy. The sample of this research was 40 students in grade six of Anuban Kamphaengsaen school, Nakhon Pathom province. The research instruments were 1) lesson plans, 2) a reading comprehension skill test and a questionnaire used to study the students’ opinions toward QAR strategy. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The findings were as follows: 1) English reading comprehension achievement of the sixth-grade students after using QAR strategy were significantly higher than before at the .05 level. 2) The students’ overall opinion toward QAR strategy was at a high level.
