Impact of enforcement of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention and control measures of Kalasin Province towards occupations in entertainment venues in Mueang Kalasin District Kalasin Province

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impacts of enforcing COVID-19 prevention and control measures on occupational workers in entertainment venues within Mueang Kalasin District, Kalasin Province. A mixed-methods research design, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative approaches, was employed. The sample consisted of occupational workers in entertainment venues located in Mueang Kalasin District. The research instruments included questionnaires administered to 83 respondents from three entertainment venues, alongside in-depth interviews conducted with six key informants from Tawan Daeng Mahason Kalasin, Kuchinarai Restaurant, and Ban Kru Club and Bar. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.             The findings revealed that the overall impact of enforcing the COVID-19 prevention and control measures was at a high level (  = 3.56, S.D. = 0.35). The economic dimension experienced the highest level of impact, followed by the social and law enforcement dimensions, respectively. Furthermore, the qualitative analysis indicated that despite the revocation of these measures, entertainment venue workers continue to face lingering economic consequences. Therefore, the government sector should utilize these findings as essential data for future public policy formulation and crisis management. This includes designing remedial measures that are comprehensive across all occupational groups, easily accessible, prompt, and grounded in the principle of social equity. Such approaches will ensure that state policies can be implemented effectively and gain universal public acceptance.
